Anne Frank House

The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum. The museum tells the history of the people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display. The Anne Frank museum is located in the centre of Amsterdam and is easy to reach by public transport. You can visit the museum individually or make an appointment for a group visit. The Anne Frank Foundation was founded in 1957 to save the Anne Frank House from being demolished. In 1960 the house was opened as museum and since then it has been visited by millions of people.

Artis Zoo

Artis offers many possibilities for an enjoyable and exciting day out. You can take a look at animals from all parts of the world or visit the Geological Museum, the Zoological Museum, the Plant Houses, the Aquarium or the Planetarium. These parts together form the inspiring 'Museum van het Leven' (Museum of Life); The oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838, Artis shows its historical character even before you walk through the gates with two golden eagles perched proudly atop the main entrance. People enjoy the 19th-century atmosphere of the gardens; the winding paths, majestic trees, the fascinating sculptures and the monumental historical buildings. Diamond factories

The diamond trade was introduced to Amsterdam in the 16th century and developed into one of the world's most important centers. After the Second World War almost nothing remained, during the war more than 2000 Jewish diamond polishers disappeared from Amsterdam into concentration camps in Germany and Poland. Many diamond shops can be found in Amsterdam including: Gassan Diamonds, Amsterdam Diamond Center, Van Moppes Diamonds and Coster Diamonds.

Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is located on the Dam in Amsterdam. It is not Queen Beatrix’s place of residence but she occasionally receives important guests there. Then the red carpet is rolled out and the Dutch flag flies above the Palace. When the important guests have departed, then everyone can take a glimpse of the Palace. The Royal Palace of Amsterdam was build in the 17th century as the new city hall of Amsterdam. After the signing of the peace treaty of Munster in 1648, Amsterdam started to execute its ambitious plan for a new city hall.

Madame Tussauds

In Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, like the equivalent in London, you can see famous personalities from all walks of life. There are 130 life-like wax figures on displayand you can have your photo taken with famous foreign personalities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Oprah Winfrey and Marilyn Monroe.

Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum is called Holland’s treasure trove and is the largest museum for art and history in the Netherlands The museum has five departments, Paintings, Sculpture and Applied Arts, Print Cabinet, Asian Art and Dutch History. The centerpiece of the collection is the renowned paintings from Holland’s Golden Age including Rembrandt’s masterpiece, the Night Watch. Events are regularly organized in the Rijksmuseum. Tea ceremonies, garden visits and discussion afternoons are all examples of special events.

Van Gogh Museum

There is no other place in the world where you can see so many of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings in one place. The Museum is situated on the Museumplein in Amsterdam. The collection is divided into three sections. The Van Gogh collection, work from other artists and the collection concerning the Van Gogh Museum’s history.

Heineken Experience

Now called the Heineken Experience you are introduced to the world of Heineken, the world’s largest beer exporter. The best example of this mix of entertainment and instruction is the Bottle Ride. It makes you feel what it is like to be a beer bottle. You take a seat on a moving platform and follow the route that each beer bottle in the brewery follows.

Rembrandt House Museum

Located in the former residence of famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn. The exterior and the interior of the house are exactly the way they were when he lived here in the 17th century. You can look around his studio, his living quarters and his art and curiosity cabinet. Items from around the world are to be found here, including stuffed animals, unusual weapons, plaster busts and colorful shells.

The narrowest house of Europe, however, is definitely located in Amsterdam. The address is Oude Hoogstraat 22, between Dam Square and Kloveniersbugwal. When you walk in the direction of Spui, you will see Magna Plaza, this magnificent monument used to be the city’s General Post Office. Now it is a beautiful shopping mall. The building houses more than 40 shops and two restaurants which are clustered around a spacious hall. The shops sell mainly fashion, deluxe articles and gifts.
