Guide to Rembrandt Museum Hotels Amsterdam

Amsterdam, the capital city of Netherlands, is not the fifth favourite European tourist destination for nothing. The city has to offer so many attractions, that even a month long vacation in the city would not suffice to see them all. The city is especially rich in canals, bridges and museums. The city is home to many internationally renowned museums such as the Stedelijk Museum, the van Gogh Museum, the Madame Tussaud Museum, and the Rembrandt House Museum.

Rembrandt House Museum specialises in works by Rembrandt van Rijn, the famous Dutch painter, who is considered one amongst the greatest painters in European art history. The period in which his contributions to art came in is called the Dutch Golden Age by historians.

The Rembrandt House Museum is a house located in Jodenbreestraat in Amsterdam, where Rembrandt was living and where he painted for several years. Rembrandt had purchased this house in the year 1639 and was living here until year 1656, when he finally went bankrupt and all his belongings were put on auction.

The house was originally built in the year 1606 and this date can be still seen painted in gold on the front wall. The Rembrandt's House museum is a fascinating reconstruction of Rembrandt's everyday life, his workshop, and his living quarters. Rembrandt House Museum would be an interesting place to visit for people, who would like to know more about this famous painter's life, his paintings, his works and something more about the Dutch Golden Age in general.

The museum is open seven days a week. The museum opens everyday at 10 in the morning and closes at 5 in the evening, except Fridays, when it closes at 9 PM. The museum remains closed on 1st of January.

There is an entrance fee, which you would need to pay; for an adult it costs 7.5 Euros; for children from 6-15 years, it costs 1.5 Euros; children under the age of 6 are allowed free.

The location address of this museum is Jodenbreestraat 4, Amsterdam. The museum is around 15 minutes walk from The Dam Square and around 20 minutes from Amsterdam Central Railway station. If you are not staying in one of the Amsterdam Hotels nearby, you can come to the central station and from there you can take tram numbers 43, 51, 53, 54 to Nieuwmarkt.
