The airport itself is pretty self-contained and shuttle buses are often supplied by the further out hotels. Hotels For a short break to Amsterdam Schiphol can be an ideal place to stay, especially if you have an early flight out. It is in fact a great place for early birds generally as it is a great deal quieter at night. Due to its location, the hotels in this area are mostly international chains, mainly of a high quality. The prototype Citizen M hotel that will soon open across Europe and the world, open since June 2008, is located just meters from the airport complex. With its technology filled bedrooms, and beautiful designer living rooms for reasonable prices, it is such an experience in itself that it is highly recommended for weekend visitors. More than most airports, Schiphol has a huge selection of clothing and department stores. All the familiar names are here. On the flight side of immigration are some excellent souvenir stores. No matter what you think you forgot, Schiphol's shopping plaza can probably help. Night hawks will want to venture into Amsterdam proper to party. The Jungle Juice bar beside arrivals is good fun, but serious party people will want more. It's worth remembering that the airport closes down at night so taxis quickly become the best, most viable option after 1 a.m. or so. Index of hotels near Schiphol Airport
